Born in 1963 Tak Salmastyan got started in art at such a young age that by the time he was fourteen years old he had graduated from The Academy of Fine Arts with Honors and Excellence. Later on, he completed his Masters in Science, though his passion was always fine art, art in any form. In his paintings, Salmastyan is able to articulate his thoughts and visions with a masterful storytelling technique that encompasses his colorist's ability to intensify compositions with shape, light and shadow and a penchant for revealing the peccadilloes of human nature. Gifted with the talent to create a broad range of evocative images, including surrealistic portraits and mystical creatures, Tak Salmastyan creates finely delicate, geometric abstract paintings which reflect his versatility and varied interests and convey a refreshing simplicity that is pleasing to the eye. His true métier, however, may be a keen appreciation and understanding of the complexity of the human psyche, which he combines adroitly with an uncanny ability to capture the flow of energy in artworks that are enhanced with unique, stylized shapes and a spellbinding richness of color. Currently Tak is a Professor of Art and Animation in Southern California and his works hang in many prestigious collections through America, Europe, Asia and abroad.
